Just a note to give you a quick update on what happened here this week. This portion of our trip was a difficult mission for me physically but despite the intense heat and my weakness, God impacted lives in an INCREDIBLE way! OVER a THOUSAND hands went up on Bantayan Island last week—teachers and students praying with me to invite Jesus into their hearts!!
Pastor Dennis (Bantayan Baptist Church) now has the "open door" he's been praying for to begin campus ministries in 6 public schools!! Before our visit, schools were very skeptical about having his church come in but each school was so thrilled with our "free event" that they can't wait for him to come back! God is SOOO good!! "Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think." —Ephesians 3:20
THANK YOU for sending us!

In The Heat
Spoke to students in the scorching sun today. Grateful for the 3 who stood by me, holding umbrellas. HUNDREDS made decisions for Christ, including my 3 umbrella holders!! Off to bed happily exhausted!

Greetings from the Philippines! As you know, Jeff and I have been ministering in jails here these past few days. We've been handing out the soap you sent, encouraging and praying with hundreds of inmates to receive Jesus.
What we are seeing inside the prisons here is heartbreaking, however. Inmates are piled up on each other in overfilled communal cells with little sanitation. Most haven't bathed with soap for weeks so the smell is overpowering. Nothing is provided—not even food. They're given bread and coffee each morning and that's it for the day. Anything else has to be either brought in daily by family or one has to fight and take another prisoner's provision. All of this makes Hebrews 13:3 come alive even more for me: "Remember those in prison, as if you were there yourself. Remember also those being mistreated, as if you felt their pain in your own bodies." WOW.
We also worked with 200 boys in the juvenile jail. Hard to believe that the majority of them have committed such serious offenses that they will spend the rest of their lives in prison. The Good news: OVER HALF prayed with me for forgiveness and salvation and will now spend eternity in Heaven!!!
I had an especially wonderful time sharing my story at the women's jail. Missionaries here warned me that they would be tougher and meaner than the men. I prayed a lot before going and purposed in my heart to treat them like sisters. The result was amazing! The ladies laughed with me, cried and rejoiced as I spoke. This picture is inside the cell and there are as many women behind me and to the side as was in front. I was surrounded by 400 women in all.
There's no greater thrill in this world than watching God transform a human life. I'm truly humbled that I get to be a part of what God is doing in the lives of the 779 inmates and 1 Warden who have accepted Jesus this week in the jails. They may still be in PRISON, but prison is no longer in them!
THANK YOU for sending us! Please remember us daily in your prayers as we serve here in the Philippines. Blessings to you as we work together in the task of reaching our world for Jesus!

Headed Out… Again…
Amazingly just 2 days remain until Jeff and I board yet another airplane to share the Gospel message. On Sept 6th, we'll be headed to the Philippines and Japan for almost a month of evangelism and encouragement through my life story.
Our first stop will be in the Philippines to serve alongside Megacity Ministries in Manila and also on Bantayan Island. We'll minister in jails, churches, schools and to parents of children with disabilities. While in Japan, I'll be speaking at the Protestant Women of the Chapel on Kadena Air Base in Okinawa. This is a ministry to military, civil and DOD women in Okinawa. Best part, we get to visit with the Lenard family, longtime friends and supporters of our ministry currently stationed in Okinawa. The Lenards will also host an intimate home event for us to share with their friends on Base.
Thanks again for your continued prayers and support that make this ministry possible. Until next time... this is your missionary, Bernadette... headed to Asia!
So The World May Know Him,
