Y'All Come Back Now, Ya Hear?

February 16, 2013

Greetings from Manila!

Dear Friends and Family,

Just a quick update (for those not following us on Facebook). Bernadette and I arrived safe and sound in Manila on Thursday, February 14th - Valentines day. Not the most romantic way to spend the day but Bernadette loves having me next to her at 35,000 ft with no place to go! :)

Your prayers were answered for us! The 3 flights couldn't have gone better! Right from the start, American Airlines gave us a 5 seat row enabling Bernadette to lie down on the long 14hr flight. Although the flights were long and challenging, we were surrounded by an overwhelming sense of well being knowing that God was with us in a real and tangible way. This could only come by much prayer so again we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Bernadette is doing well and has been resting since we arrived, adjusting to the 13hr time difference. Our first church service will be tonight but our ministry actually began the moment we boarded our first plane. As we were leaving the plane, a flight attendant asked why we were traveling all the way to the Philippines. We briefly explained about our ministry and she said to Bernadette, "can you tell me your story--in a nutshell?" This gave us a wonderful opportunity to share with her! Hours later, on our second plane, another flight attendant felt compelled to come and ask us for advice regarding a friend who recently had a stroke and going through a very difficult time. Another great opportunity to share the hope of Christ!

Friends, we sometimes don't realize how much the world is watching us and wondering about the hope within us. 1 Peter 3:5 tells us to "always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have." It is with this in mind that we go forth--knowing that our ministry here in Manila is not confined to ministering in schools or churches but it's also about the individuals we come in contact with on a daily basis.

Shining His Light in Manila,

Jeff & Bernadette Todd
