Greetings from Cochabamba!
Hi Dear Friends,
Greetings to you from Cochabamba! This is just a quick email to thank you so much for praying and to let you know that I’m feeling great. I’m actually feeling as good as I normally do and am able to eat again. Speaking of eating, look at what they eat for breakfast here in Bolivia! Can you believe it? This is a typical dish that’s mostly served midmorning. Believe it or not, it’s actually delicious!
Jeff and Tony are also doing great. Tony has still been translating for me and Jeff has been doing all the filming. We had a busy day yesterday speaking at Emmanuel school and giving out Beanies, speaking at the Chamber of Commerce, and at a ladies event.
It was a small group at the Chamber of Commerce, maybe 8 or 9 people, but I spoke as if the room was full and they listened intently. In the end, 4 received Jesus including a Cochabamba News Anchor.
The women’s event last night was phenomenal! They were very excited about me coming and had done a lot to invite people who don’t know the Lord. They had decision counselors ready and were overjoyed and overwhelmed as more than 20 women opened their hearts to Jesus. One lady said that his was the most salvations that they’ve seen in years!
Today was our free day and it was great. We chose to drive to some nearby small towns and give out some more Beanies and tracks to poor kids on the streets. I wish you could see how excited they get and how they run to tell others.
Well, my time here in Cochabamba is going great and we are making a much greater impact than we ever dreamed possible. People here are in deep need of hope.
Right now, Bolivia has a lot of political problems and people are suffering. Things have become twice as expensive and there are fewer jobs. Bolivia is also currently experiencing a Dengue Fever epidemic where so far 40,000 people have dengue and many have died (don’t worry, the 3 of us have been wearing lots of mosquito spray). People are crying out, searching for answers and hearts are ready for the gospel in a way that I have never seen before. In all my years of doing this I have never seen such a harvest (more than 300 so far this week) in such a short time. Please pray for us as we continue to share the gospel in this city.
Continuing in His Service,
Bernadette
